This 2021 Sierra Trails Zinfandel walks a delicate tightrope between fruity fragrance and earthy smoke. Chocolatey aromas teem out of the glass, mingling with notes of deep red fruit, bold cappuccino, and creamy French vanilla. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with high alcohol and silky tannins. Indeed, this Zinfandel possesses a remarkably soft character, giving it an incredibly easy-drinking quality and vast pairing choices. Our Sierra Trails Zin is a prime example of the superiority of California sunshine. The long growing season and minimal rain impart concentrated flavor to each and every dark berry. Only the Golden State’s Mediterranean climate, with radiant summers and cooling nights, could deliver the level of fruit, fragrance, and layered acidity you’ll find in every glass. This Californian Zin is a prime bottle for pairing rich and savory dishes. Think spinach and artichoke roast of lamb, Peking duck, provençal beef, or loaded baked potato.

      Very Distictive Light Zinfandel

Sierra Trails doesn't press the grapes firmly, as most Zin producers do. Of course, much of a Zin's distinctive taste comes from the skin, which is why this is usually done. But, Sierra Trails lightly presses the grapes, and what you get is a lighter wine reminiscent of a Pinot Noir, but with a subtle Zin taste. I love it myself, because it is such a distinct use of the grapes that can't be found anywhere else (that I've found, anyway). I've been buying this wine for years, and it never lets me down. If you like Zin, keep some of this in addition to other California Zins, and as long as you don't expect it to be like those other Zins, you'll enjoy its distinctiveness.

      Nice flavor but thin bodied

Very nice predominant grape flavor tempered by the smokey taste of leather which cuts the sweetness and results in a a nice balance. The only reason I would not rate this wine with 5 stars is that it is a bit thin bodied and therefore not as well rounded as I had hoped.

      A solid zin

I have had trouble finding reasonably priced, well made zin. This one fits the bill for me. Full flavor but not too sweet.

      A Go-To Favorite

This full-bodied beauty is a go-to favorite. Zinfandel that is produced from old vines has a special quality that allows the wine to be paired with just about anything. Fish, salad, and bulgogi have all worked great with this flavorful wine.

      Sierra Trails - Smooth

This wine is very smooth to my palate. There is no vinaigrette taste that seems to be found in many wines. I always try to get this wine in my orders.
