2017 Vinum Chenin Blanc

The perfect balance of fruity and savory

Insider Price

South Africa’s picturesque Stellenbosch region is known for delicious wines made from grapes grown at the foot of stunningly beautiful granite mountains. This terroir gives Stellenbosch wines a unique hint of smoke that elevates their flavor profiles, adding a savory complexity to even the fruitiest wines.

2017 Vinum Chenin Blanc is a prime example of this palate-pleasing balance of rich fruit notes and savory smoke. Made from hand-picked grapes grown in the foothills of Helderberg Mountain, 2017 Vinum Chenin Blanc is full-bodied white wine with smoky, almost earthy hints that mingle with citrus peel on the nose. Take a sip and relish how the note of smoke quickly gives way to big, rich notes of pineapple and peach on the palate, leading to a crisp, clean finish.

One evening, we paired this white wine with a spicy Thai seafood medley, and it was perfect. The wine’s full body and slight sweetness helped beat the heat from the hot peppers, and the fruit flavors melded with the tangy nam jim dipping sauce. We can’t wait to try it with grilled mahi mahi tacos and pineapple salsa.

We recommend opening this wine half an hour before drinking to give the flavors time to open up.
