Discover a distinctively South African take on a blend of two French grapes in 2020 Granite Ridge Cinsault/Syrah, a dry red wine from an award-winning winery. Rich, full-bodied Syrah meets fresh, light-bodied Cinsault in this blend, which opens with an elegant bouquet of spice and earthy florals. The palate is fruit-driven in flavor with nuanced complexities, revealing ripe red fruits that mingle with savory spice. Lively acidity is balanced by grippy yet subtle tannins, leaving a finish that refreshes, especially when served slightly chilled. Dark-skinned varieties originally from France, Cinsault and Syrah thrive in the hot, dry climate of South Africa’s Western Cape. Grapes were hand-harvested from vineyards in Swartland and Stellenbosch, representing the fruitful 2020 vintage that yielded wines with great color intensity and wonderful fruit concentration. Crafted by The Winery of Good Hope, Granite Ridge is a collection of approachable, terroir-driven wines that reflect the region’s unique geology and soils. The winery is named for The Cape of Good Hope, a rocky area on the Atlantic coast that saw wine grapes among the first crops grown when it was settled in the 1650s. Founder and winemaker Alex Dale is passionate about making “quality wine with a conscience,” and The Winery of Good Hope uses traditional and natural viticultural and winemaking methods to create delicious wines for any occasion. The Stellenbosch-based winery is also dedicated to environmental, ethical, and social-upliftment practices. 2020 Granite Ridge Cinsault/Syrah is quite food-friendly, making it an enjoyable pour with appetizers and hearty meals alike. Uncork this blend with hard cheeses, roasted meats, grilled vegetables, barbecued chicken, spiced lamb, and various soups and stews. Blend of: Cinsault and Syrah. Syrah 101
