With a dark and deep garnet color, this 2018 Pretium Tannat presents a gourmet, fruity nose bursting with cherry, black currant, and blackberry notes. Rippled with subtle notes of toasted spice, this red is structured with seductive aromas and a gradual, pleasant finish. This Tannat blend benefits from French hillsides enriched with limestone soil and arid gravel clay. This unique environment between la Bigorre, le Béarn, and l’Armagnac provides the grapes with a radiant climate tempered by ocean breezes. Traditional wine-making methods with an extended maceration period imbue this Tannat with its unique garnet hues and dark fruit flavors. This Pretium Tannat makes a delicious pair with rich red meat dishes. We like a roasted lamb, duck confit, and assorted aged cheese like Roquefort and Chaumes.

      Too Tannat for me...

Seems well made, but a bit too much gruff for general enjoyment. Have had other Tannat based wines that showcase the bold character of the grape, but this one has too little support to give it overall appeal.

      Tannic

A little harsh and tannic for my palate. Not a favorite, but probably good with really heavy, greasy food.

      Delicously sinful

I have been a huge fan of the Tannat variety since introduced to me here at Wine Insiders and when the variety went away I was so disappointed so happy to see it's back...if you love full bodied, warm and delicious wine then you must try this!

      Just Not a Tannat

Tannat is one of my favorites but I found this particular Tannat not to represent the quality I was accustomed to. The tannin structure was poor and the overall body of the wine was thin. I would not recommend it to anyone nor will I ever buy it again. Respectfully James Reed
