Straw yellow and verdant hues hint at the delicate fruit flavors found in this 2021 Ca’Gregorie Soave. White flowers and wildflowers contribute to a fragrant, beautifully perfumed nose. The wine is full yet soft on the palate with bright acidity and well-balanced alcohol. The finish is short and dry with delightful notes of stone fruit, apple, and citrus. Ca’Gregorie roughly translates to the winery of the Gregoris family, the makers of this delicious white wine. The family tree covers multiple generations of winemaking in Veneto, set against the rolling hills and rustic architecture depicted on the label. This easy-drinking wine is perhaps best known as an aperitif, though it also complements the flavors of many “primi piatti” or first dishes in Italian three-course meals. Think lighter pasta or vegetable dishes, a crunchy Balsamic salad, chicken piccata, or fresh shellfish.

      Much Better Than Anticipated

I really liked the 2020 except for the PITA cork issue. While that is still there the wine was a surprise. European wines 2021 v. 2020 are generally lighter and less flavorful. Climate change will do that. This was an exception.! I found it had more body and flavor than the 2020. And I bought the 2021 on a flyer - without having tasted it first. I've been badly burned doing this before but I had a $9/bottle coupon that was about to expire (hint, hint - bring them back). so I figured what the. . . ? Very glad I did.

I will buy this again if it is still around when I am ready, or if I get another great coupon offer.
