2018 Château Haut Boilon Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux Rouge is a dry, full-bodied red blend from the Right Bank of France’s renowned Bordeaux winemaking region.
Glistening ruby red in the glass, this gem opens with a bouquet of black fruits, blood orange, and licorice. The palate is fresh and fruity, with aromas of ripe black fruits and soft tannins that linger on the finish.
Wines from Bordeaux’s Right Bank are known for their bold yet smooth style, due to Merlot being used as a primary grape. This blend is expressive in character, displaying the elegance of Merlot (85%) with touches of Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Malbec (5%) added for complexity. Grapes were grown in clay-limestone soil in vineyards located in the Blaye-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
From vine tending to bottling, Château Haut Boilon is passionate about protecting the environment at every stage in crafting wine. The estate was recognized with a sustainable agriculture certification (Haute Valeur Environnementale, or HVE) from the French Ministry of Agriculture. HVE is the program’s highest and most stringent certification label. This impressive Bordeaux red is presented in partnership with Yvon Mau, a wine producer and trading house offering Bordeaux wine expertise since 1897.
Serve 2018 Château Haut Boilon Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux Rouge with appetizers, roasted red meats, and pasta dishes. It’s also splendid on its own, paired with a good book or movie.
This wine is mentioned in Episode 2: Meet Me At The Club and Episode 4: Annivesary Edition: Bordeaux and Burgundy of our podcast, Sniff Sip Repeat.
