Uncork this medium to full-bodied wine to reveal a beautiful ruby color with purple reflections in the glass. The nose is dominated by roasted and smoked notes due to the wine’s oak-aging. Wines from the Right Bank of Bordeaux are known for their bold yet smooth style due to Merlot being used as a primary grape. Dark fruit flavors, along with hints of chocolate and earth, are accompanied by balanced tannins.
Grapes were selected from a small estate in Côtes de Bourg, an appellation that is one of France’s oldest wine-producing regions. The first vineyards were founded by the Romans, and this region existed as a major port for wine in the Middle Ages. Sometimes referred to as “Bordeaux’s Little Switzerland,” Côtes de Bourg has gently sloping hills, rich soils, and a cooler, maritime-influenced climate that make it ideal for growing grapes, especially reds.
Pair this 2020 Bordeaux Rouge with classic French dishes with sirloin steak and onion bites, braised lamb shoulder, and rich potato dishes like gratin dauphinoise.
